finca de salinas

On an island of uniform, white washed buildings the Hotel Finca de Salinas really stands out. Thanks to its bright brick red paint job and many Moorish flourishes.

But this top end rural hotel offers much more than just great décor and attention to detail alone. As guests here can also enjoy outstanding levels of service and comfort.

The original building dates back to the 18th century and was originally owned by a wealthy pharmacist and businessman called Don Jaime Lleo. Who managed to make his pile in the local salt industry. Harvesting the crystals at the nearby Janubio de Salinas salt works and exporting them across Europe. Roots which remain evident in the establishments name today (Salinas is Spanish for salt) – whilst the former owners wealth was expressed in flamboyant touches such as the palm fringed avenue that leads to this imposing property.

The current owners took the building on in 1996 – fusing modern influences with the traditional architecture to create one of the leading hotels in Lanzarote. Located in the pretty village of Yaiza, close to the islands breathtaking volcanic region.

All of the 19 guest rooms (comprising 17 double rooms and two guest suites) were renovated by the leading Lanzarote based architect and designer Angel Garcia Puertas. Who also had a hand in other high profile projects on the island such as the creation of the leading restaurant, the Alamacen de Sal, in the resort of Playa Blanca. Along with the development of the impressive main Visitors Centre at the volcano park.

Under his aegis the rooms have all been given an individual feel and finish and feature subtle lighting, antique furniture and some of the biggest bathrooms around. Along with the sort of traditional touches you’d expect from a top end hotel such as complimentary robes, slippers and bottles of wine.

All of the guest rooms are situated around the main swimming pool – housed in what was once the mansions stable area. And guests can also enjoy other high-end amenities such as a sauna, jacuzzi, gymnasium and tennis court. Massages and a whole raft of body treatments are also available in the privacy of your own room.
The Finca de Salinas also boasts an atmospheric bar – located in what was once the bodega of this grand property. Along with an excellent restaurant serving international and traditional cuisine with a modern twist.

The hotel is ideally located for anyone planning to explore Lanzarote´s key attractions such as the wine region and the volcanoes and is located within 15 minutes of the islands two main resorts of Playa Blanca and Puerto del Carmen. With double rooms starting from €104 per night, a price which also includes breakfast.
